Dentistry is one of the fields of Medicine with the highest rate of renunciation of care for economic reasons, with over half the population not visiting the dentist in the past year. Almost all treatments are managed by private clinics or practices, as dentistry is the "Cinderella" of the essential levels of care (LEA) guaranteed by the National Health Service. Istat data is telling: 5.7% of young people over 15 and 5.7% of those over 65 did not have visits or treatments in the past year for economic reasons. These percentages rise to 13% and 20% respectively for those who received dental care late, or did not receive it at all, also due to excessively long waiting lists in the NHS. There are marked territorial differences, to the disadvantage of the south and islands. Even though they have to bear the full cost of the service almost 9 times out of 10, 95% of young people and 94% of the elderly turned to private dental clinics or practices run by freelancers. In view of this trend, and in order to meet the needs of our patients, our Healthcare Facility has joined the Hey Light service by Compass to encourage dental care, which allows the total cost of dental treatments to be spread over up to 24 months without any additional costs being applied to the treatment fees.
